Dedicated to the art of swing.

Tuesday Jazz Project [TJP] is a service of the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, preserving, and growing jazz as an art form. We do this by reaching out to young jazz musicians across Central Arkansas and bringing them together to play in small combos with seasoned jazz professionals.

With its focus on the Arkansas jazz scene, TJP strives to meet the following goals:

  • Create unique opportunities for studying and performing jazz
  • Support high school and college jazz programs
  • Bring together professionals and students to form mentor relationships
  • Unite the jazz community through networking and communication
  • Support live jazz performance
  • Increase and educate jazz audiences

TJP was founded in 2009 as the answer to the question "Where can Arkansas jazz musicians and aspiring jazz musicians under age 21 go to meet  and perform with other jazz musicians?" Unfortunately, the answer was either in school -- if the students' schools were fortunate enough to have a jazz program -- or nowhere at all. TJP seeks to change all that by giving interested students a venue to meet others interested in jazz, study with professional jazz musicians in small combos, and perform jazz during three 10-week terms throughout the school year.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about TJP, and to come to our rehearsals and concerts to experience the project in action. Show your support for jazz education and friend us on Facebook!
